Signal은 기존 안전 번호를 보완하는 자동 키 검증 기능을 도입했다. 이 기능을 통해 상대방의 공개 암호화 키가 예기치 않게 바뀌지 않았는지 확인할 수 있으며, 전화번호와 사용자명, 공개 키의 변경 사항을 기록하는 키 투명성 로그를 적용하고 있다. 이는 사용자와 상대방, 제3자 감사가 모두 동일한 기록을 보도할 수 있게 하여 보안성을 높인다.

Signal has introduced an automatic key verification feature that enhances the security of user communications. This feature allows users to check if the public encryption key of their contact has changed unexpectedly, without face-to-face or separate communication. Changes to phone numbers, usernames, and public keys are logged in a key transparency log, allowing user and third-party audits to ensure everyone has the same record.
