2026년 7월 27일부터 GitHub는 모든 심각도 수준에서 공개 버그 현상금 지급액을 최소 절반으로 줄이기로 결정했습니다. 특히, 치명적인 발견에 대한 보상은 $20,000-$30,000에서 고정금액인 $10,000으로 하향 조정될 예정입니다. 대신 초대 전용 VIP 등급에서는 $30,000 이상의 보상이 지급됩니다. 기한 이전에 제출된 보고서는 기존의 지급 조건을 유지합니다.

GitHub is cutting public bug bounty payouts by half and moving top rewards to a VIP tier.

Starting July 27, 2026, GitHub will reduce public bug bounty payouts by at least half across all severity levels. Critical findings will see a payout drop from $20,000-$30,000+ to a fixed $10,000. In contrast, a permanent VIP tier will provide payments of $30,000 or more. Reports submitted before the deadline will still adhere to the previous payout terms.
