역진행(Regressive) JPEG

역진행 JPEG는 다운로드 시 화질이 개선되면서 이미지가 지속적으로 변경된다.

역진행 JPEG는 점진적 JPEG의 다중 스캔 구조를 변형하여 다운로드가 진행될수록 화질이 개선되도록 설계되었다. 이 방식은 이미 표시된 이미지가 다른 이미지로 변경되는 독특한 특징을 가지고 있다. 각 스캔에서는 색상 채널, DCT 주파수 범위 및 정밀도를 설정하면서, 동일 해상도의 JPEG에서 일부 마커를 제거하여 이어 붙일 수 있다.

Regressive JPEG modifies the multi-scan structure of progressive JPEGs, allowing the image quality to improve as the download progresses. This unique method causes already displayed images to continuously change into others. Each scan specifies color channels, DCT frequency ranges, and precision, allowing certain markers to be removed and stitched together in JPEGs of the same resolution.
