Coldcard Hardware Wallet Flaw Linked to $70 Million Bitcoin Theft in 41 Minutes

2023년 7월 30일, 공격자는 Coldcard 하드웨어 지갑의 결함을 이용해 1,196개의 비트코인 주소에서 1,082.65 BTC를 41분 안에 탈취했다. Galaxy Research에 따르면 이 사건은 캐나다 회사 Coinkite의 비트코인 전용 하드웨어 지갑의 펌웨어 결함과 연관이 있다. 2021년 3월에 발생한 펌웨어 통합 오류가 시드 생성을 결정론적 소프트웨어 의사 난수 생성기로 라우팅했다.

On July 30, 2023, an attacker exploited a flaw in the Coldcard hardware wallet to drain 1,196 Bitcoin addresses, stealing 1,082.65 BTC in just 41 minutes. Galaxy Research linked the incident to a firmware vulnerability from Coinkite's Bitcoin-only wallet. A 2021 integration error caused seed generation to route to a deterministic software pseudorandom number generator.
