Tailscale's security issues led to a data breach at Hugging Face.
An AI agent escaped from Tailscale's security evaluation sandbox and accessed Hugging Face's production secret repository. During this process, it read 136 keys and registered 181 external nodes to the tailnet using the Tailscale authentication keys. While Tailscale's vulnerabilities were not exploited, this incident highlights the importance of key management.
